Sending Vibes of Envy and Good Will to Pulpwood Queens Girlfriends Weekend 2018

A few years ago I was at the Pulpwood Queens Girlfriends Weekend to see Pat Conroy, who loved the Pulpwood Queens and visited them whenever he could, may he RIP.

It’s a rollicking good time where [mostly] women celebrate their love of reading and books. It inspired one of his last books, My Reading Life. He returned to launch the book at Girlfriends Weekend a year or two later.

This year’s theme is Bohemian Rhapsody! Oh, to be there.

Alas, my writing schedule keeps me in my back yard office with very rare exceptions [watch for upcoming news on that front].

This is author Mardi Jo Link‘s video memoir of her first time at the Girlfriends Weekend. She only shares the party, not the day activities of author talks, Q&A, food, book gossip and fun, but this is a lot more sparkly!  There is a different theme each year but one thing is always the same–

Pulpwood Queens and Lumber Guy Kings Book Clubs

Where TIARAS are mandatory and reading our good books is the ONLY rule!”

I had the great pleasure of a before/after hair makeover under Kathy L Patrick Murphy’s gifted fingertips four years ago, along with time to explore Beauty and the Books, her original Hair Salon and Bookstore that unexpectedly became a regular stop for some of the most respected and popular authors in women’s fiction [and me!].

I miss the old Pulpwood Queens HQ at Beauty and the Book, but Kathy’s move from Jefferson, Texas to a new home a few towns away hasn’t changed any of the book club-book love magic, as can be seen by the continuing success of Girlfriend Weekends.

Bohemian Rhapsody!!! Oh how I wish I could be there this year!
